In November of 1987, I went
to my first dog show with a beagle named Buster that was
mostly of field origin. This was the Terry-All Kennel Club
in Denver, CO. Buster won that day and started a journey
with this breed that has now spanned over 20 years. From
about 1990 (when my first litter was born) until 1996, I
bred under the prefix “Pennock’s” and produced several
lovely litters. I then took a brief hiatus from showing and
breeding from 1998 until 2001. My first venture back into
the dog show world was when I judged sweepstakes at the RMBC
inaugural show in Greeley, CO August 2001. I re-entered
the show ring that same summer, showing a daughter of
Charlie (BIS Ch. Pennock’s Tymes A Wastin) for a friend. I
realized instantly how much I had truly missed showing, and
spent the next couple of years showing dogs here and there
for others and attending dog shows. In December 2003,
Jester was born to this same daughter of Charlie and in
February of 2004 he joined our family. My husband Barry has
now discovered the joys of beagles, first with Chrissy and
now with Jester and Abby.

While Barry prefers the
sidelines and the title of “official photographer” at most
shows, he has truly come to love the breed and enjoys
watching “the kids” show and perform at events.
In December 2007, I
obtained my provisional judging status for beagles and am
very much looking forward to my first assignments. In 2007
Barry and I adopted the Alpenglow prefix. Alpenglow is a
beautiful optical phenomenon that looks like a red glowing
band. It can be observed at sunset in mountainous areas.
We found this fitting for our dogs and us who live in the
Boulder, CO foothills.
Thank you for visiting our
site. Enjoy!
